What’s the Cannes Film Festival line up for 2017

This festival is known for keeping film selections quiet until the very last moment, but the organizers released the line-up last week and the selection looks promising to say the least! Some of the most anticipated films of this year’s festival include:

  • Sicilian Ghost Story – Directed by Grassadonia and Piazza, 2013 winners, this is a story about the disappearance of a young boy, and a young girl fighting back against the silence of her community in the face of this event.
  • A Violent Life – Set in Corsica, this political and historical film is directed by Thierry de Peretti. It’s ultra-realistic focus is on the political radicalization of the main character.
  • Bloody Milk – This is a thriller directed by Hubert Charuel, revolving around a dairy farmer and his family, who faces disaster when infection strikes his herd.
  • Brigsby Bear – Directed by Dave McCary, this is the festival’s closing film. An American comedy-drama, it stars Kyle Mooney, Clare Danes, Mark Hamill and other well-known Hollywood stars, and focuses on a journey to complete the story of a well-known children’s show.

What Monmouth Airport Can Offer Charter Companies That Others Can’t

Monmouth Executive Airport is a newly revamped private airport in New Jersey that is focused on one thing – offering the future of aviation. Here’s what makes us different – and a favorite with charter companies:

  • Hangar space: Private airports in the tristate area and all over the USA are struggling to meet the demand for hangar space. However, Monmouth Airport has access to 850 acres of land, which is why we can offer aviators and charter companies clean, well-maintained hangar space in New Jersey right now. From T-hangar rentals with attached office space to custom built hangars to your exact specifications, we can handle it all at an affordable rate.
  • Competitive fuel prices: Whether you run a charter company or enjoy flying your own aircraft for pleasure, the price of aviation fuel can have a big impact on your flying. We offer aviation fuel at a competitive or lower rate than other regional jet centers, including Morristown and Teterboro. We stock both Avfuel 100 II and Jet A, and offer volume fuel and self-service discounts.
  • The longest runway: At 7300 feet, our runway is the longest of any private airport in the country, allowing us to handle almost any class of non-commercial jet or aircraft on the market. Our landing lights are always on, and fuel and de-icing services operate 24/7.
  • Uncrowded airspace: Tired of delays, stressful landings and taking off, and heavy traffic both in the sky and on the ground? We’re located out of New York Class B airspace and one mile outside Mode C airspace, making for easy, stress-free flying. Despite our quiet location, we’re still an easy 1 hour drive or 20 min helicopter ride from Downtown Manhattan, Philadelphia or Atlantic City, and offer full limousine and car rental services.

Get world-class service at Monmouth Executive Airport in New Jersey

Travelling With Your Pet – Commercial VS. Private Airports

For many of us, our pets are part of our family, and we want to bring them with us on vacation and share the excitement of travel with them. However, flying commercially with your pet is very different to using a private aircraft – here are some insights from Monmouth Executive Airport in New Jersey.

Flying on a commercial airliner with your pet

  • Paperwork: Your pet needs to be 8 weeks or older and have all required vet vaccinations up-to-date, complete with paperwork. Rabies vaccinations are compulsory, while some airlines also require parvo vaccination certificates.
  • Tickets: Each airline has different booking requirements for pets, so it is important to call ahead and find out exactly what you need to do. Some require fees for travel in the form of a ticket, while others are weighed on-site and dropped off at a specific airport location up to a few hours before your flight.
  • Travel housing: Because your pet will be travelling in a pressurized hold, you will be required to house your pet in a travel kennel that meets certain size specifications. Some airlines also require a food and water supply in the crate. Some airlines will, however, allow you to keep your crated pet in the cabin with you – but only if there is space.
  • Travel experience: Pets are generally separated from their owners and from before they board the aircraft, as they are loaded by staff into the pressurized hold. While every precaution is taken, there have been instances where pets have been left in harsh environmental conditions out on the tarmac while flight delays and other issues are solved. They cannot be monitored properly during the flight and the noise of the experience itself can be very stressful for even the most well-adjusted pets.

Private jet travel with pets

Flying with a pet from a private airport like Monmouth Executive Airport where we offer world-class FBO services and amenities is a very different experience, both for you and your furry friend. Private jet companies are happy to go above and beyond for all their clients – and this includes pets. Although the same vaccine and health requirements are in place when you fly privately, the similarities stop there.

Simply notify the charter company that your pet will be accompanying you and they will do everything they can to accommodate them in comfort, from keeping your pet with you in the cabin to planning specific meals and treats for your pet. Leashes are important for safety purposes on the tarmac, and crates are advisable for smaller pets to ensure their safety during takeoff and landing, but you will always be in close contact with your pet to keep them calm, happy and enjoying their flight.

COMMERCIAL OR PRIVATE PILOT FLYING LESSONS?

Have you decided that you’d like to learn to fly as a career? Congratulations and welcome to an exciting new chapter in your life! You’ll have some tough decisions to make, including whether you’d like to become a private charter pilot or a pilot for a large commercial airliner. Here are some of the pros and cons of each position from Monmouth Airport and flight school in New Jersey:

Pros of being a commercial airline pilot

  • Flying some of the largest and most advanced commercial jets in the world.
  • Exceptional international and national travel opportunities.
  • Great for meeting new and interesting people, getting to know new cultures and cities.
  • Once you’re in a senior position, the salary is very good.

  • It takes a significant amount of expensive training to move into the top tiers of the industry.
  • You will spend a lot of time away from home, including holidays, family birthdays and other important events.
  • Dealing with airport security screening and procedures can be a hassle.

Cons of being a private airline pilot

5 reasons to consider Monmouth Jet Center as the home for your aircraft

If you’re an aircraft owner or charter flight operator, you know how important it is that the airport you’re based from is able to meet all your needs. Here’s why Monmouth Executive Airport is the ideal home for your airplane.

1. We have the longest private runway in the country: At 7,300 feet, our runway isn’t just the longest runway in the region – it’s the longest in the entire USA. Not only does this make accommodating larger jets and aircraft easier, it also makes it safer and more comfortable when you’re taking off and landing in poor weather conditions.

2. We have hangar space available right now: Hangar space is at a premium all over the region, especially at overcrowded airports like Teterboro and Morristown. Our expansion plan is taking the squeeze out of this issue by providing you with the ability to buy or rent communal or private hangar space right now. We also offer affordable plans to allow you the chance to build custom hangars for your aircraft, with or without office space.

3. Our fuel won’t burn up your budget: We offer both Jet-A and AVGas onsite at competitive rates in order to ensure that refueling is convenient and budget-friendly. In addition, we offer fuel loyalty schemes that make refueling with us an even more rewarding experience.

4. We’re closer than you think: At just an hour and 15 minutes from downtown Manhattan by car or 20 minutes by helicopter, we are a real alternative to other private airports in the area. Outside of crowded Class B airspace, we offer you clear, low-traffic skies, quick landings and take offs, and stress-free flying.

5. We have the FBO services you need: Our recent upgrade includes world-class FBO services that are essential to aircraft safety as well as airport efficiency. These 24-hour, round-the-clock services include fuel availability, LED based airport lighting and rotating beacon, lavatory servicing, de-icing and access to Ground Power Units.

The USA – Business aviation capital of the world

With reports showing that around 60% of all private jet traffic departing and arriving is in the USA, it’s no surprise that we are positioned as the top business aviation location on the globe. With exciting growth in the private flight and manufacturing industry, our team at Monmouth Executive Airport is confident that we’ll stay at the top. Here’s why:
• We’re where the industry started: With the maiden flight of the Lear Jet 23 in 1963, the USA launched the era of private business aviation. Not only did this launch the iconic aircraft brand, it kept the USA at the top of this industry for over 50 years.
• We’re heading the private jet manufacturing industry: Although there are big private jet manufacturing companies in Canada, Brazil and France, the USA is still home to some of the biggest names on the market. These include Cessna, Gulfstream Aerospace, Airbus, Beechcraft, Boeing and Lear (recently acquired by Bombardier).
• We’re the top destination for business aviation: Los Angeles’ Van Nuys and New York’s Teterboro Airports are the busiest in the world for private business travellers, whether they are traveling across the country or across the world. In 2012 alone, Van Nuys managed over 259,000 private takeoffs and landings – a number that has only increased since then.
• We account for the most private jet purchases: In the USA, we aren’t just making the most private aircraft, we’re buying them too. With over half the world’s private jet buyers right here, the GAMA places the USA as accounting for 49.7% market share of new aircraft in 2012 alone – out-purchasing second place by almost 20%. In total, the 2014 General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) publication states that 199,000 private business jets are currently based in the USA logging approximately 15 million flight hours to over 5,000 airports.
• We’re dedicated to FBO: In the USA, Fixed Base Operators (that is, private jet terminals) are a booming business. With access to over 5,000 airports, charter companies and private jets are able to operate with maximum flexibility and convenience – moving around poor weather conditions and delivering their clients through a more direct and traffic-free route. These FBOs vary from airport to airport, offering everything from basic services to luxury, VIP experiences and facilities.
• We’re a strong part of the economy: Using private jets for business isn’t just in your company’s best interests – it’s in the economy’s too. From charter companies and FBOs to crew, aircraft manufacturers and mechanics, the private business aviation sector contributes significantly towards the 219 billion dollar contribution of general aviation to the economy and 1.1 million jobs the industry supports.
